COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aerospace Technology BEng (Hons) degree provides a comprehensive, structured pathway over three years, beginning with a shared first year that builds a broad foundation in engineering principles. In Year 1, students study core modules such as Fluid Mechanics and Aerodynamics, Mechanical Engineering Principles, and Engineering Mathematics. They are also introduced to Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Engineering Design, and Aerospace Engineering Skills, helping them acquire fundamental knowledge and practical abilities across disciplines. After completing this common year, students have the flexibility to switch to a related course if they meet the academic requirements. Year 2 focuses on more specialised aerospace content, with modules like Aerospace Systems, Avionics Systems, and Aerospace Structures. Students deepen their understanding of topics such as thermofluid applications, control systems, and flight dynamics while developing their mathematical and analytical skills further. This year is designed to prepare students for tackling real aerospace engineering challenges through advanced modelling and system design. In the final year, the program intensifies with a focus on applied aerospace engineering. Students study Propulsion Systems and Aerodynamics, Advanced Avionics Systems, and Aerospace System Validation and Verification. They also undertake two major projects: the Individual Project and Research Methods module and the Individual Aerospace Project, which allow students to demonstrate their capability to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical design and research. These projects are aimed at simulating professional aerospace engineering tasks, requiring innovation, critical analysis, and independent problem-solving. The course is designed to produce graduates with strong technical skills and practical experience, equipped to contribute to the aerospace industry or pursue further study. Each year builds systematically on the previous one, ensuring a deepening of knowledge and competencies required in aerospace technology.
