COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Professional Accounting is designed to equip students with essential knowledge and practical skills in financial practices, preparing them for roles in the accounting profession. In year one, students explore the core principles of accounting, including financial statements, budgeting, taxation, and credit management control. These modules help build a solid foundation in accounting and introduce key concepts used in the profession. Completion of this year leads to a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Professional Accounting.Year two advances the knowledge gained in year one, focusing more on management-level understanding. Students learn to use performance management systems, apply financial reporting for different business types, and understand the legal framework relevant to accounting. Modules also include business finance, preparing students to make informed financial decisions. This stage culminates in a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Professional Accounting.The final year focuses on advanced and strategic accounting practices. Students are introduced to assurance processes and the importance of ethics in accounting. Topics such as advanced taxation and financial management are covered in depth, alongside business strategy analysis. This year helps students refine their decision-making abilities, develop strategic thinking and prepare for entry into the accounting profession.Graduates of this program may be eligible for exemptions with professional bodies like the ICAEW and the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA), subject to meeting certain criteria and work experience requirements. This degree not only supports academic growth but also provides a pathway to professional recognition and membership. By combining practical knowledge with industry-relevant modules, the course prepares students for a successful career in accounting and finance.
