In the first year of the course, students are introduced to foundational skills and concepts in media and film production through a range of practical and theoretical modules. These include ScreenCraft, where students learn camera, lighting, sound, and editing techniques, and Key Concepts in Media and Film, which explores theories such as representation and narrative. Storytelling: From Page to Production helps students develop scripts and treatments, while Working in Creative Practice introduces career paths and professional development. Modules like Film and Media: Industry and Aesthetics provide insight into global media histories, and Making Media that Matters focuses on documentary production with social impact. In the second year, students enhance their technical and creative abilities, producing short-form content in Content Creation for Video Production and exploring creativity across platforms in Discovering Your Creativity in Media Production. TV Studio and Entertainment Formats offers hands-on experience with studio production and global entertainment trends, while Branding, Promotion and Online Media examines how media is marketed and consumed. Students also begin to refine their career direction in Developing Your Career in Production through placements and industry engagement, and they collaborate on real-world projects in Creative Collaboration. The final year consolidates all prior learning and prepares students for professional work. In Experimenting in Film and Media, students explore innovative production methods and emerging technologies. Pre Production Practice supports them in developing ideas and positioning themselves within their chosen creative communities. The Final Major Project is a significant piece of individual work showcasing their skills and specialization, while Moving into Your Creative Future helps them build a professional portfolio and plan their career path. Students also select one specialist module from Monetising Media, Post Production, or Scriptwriting to tailor their learning to specific industry interests, ensuring they graduate with a well-rounded and targeted skill set.
