COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of this course, you will gain a broad foundation in spatial design and digital skills. The curriculum focuses on essential knowledge and practical skills needed to create spaces, understand materials, and develop design ideas.Modules include Drawing and Making Spaces, where you'll learn fundamental techniques for spatial practice communication, and Creative Exploration, which challenges you to apply these skills in specific contexts. In The Language of Space, you'll analyze and appreciate the design of structures and spaces across time. The Digital Skills 1 module introduces digital tools and media for developing and communicating design ideas, while Materials and Structures covers the materials and processes used in creating sustainable spaces. The Designing Spaces module allows you to apply your developing skills to design a space tailored to a specific user.Year two builds upon your first-year knowledge by embedding key principles such as technical skills, academic knowledge, professional abilities, and global awareness. In the Branded Spaces module, you'll explore the complexities of designing spaces that reflect a brand's identity. Digital Skills 2 advances your digital proficiency, and Professional Development helps you build your portfolio for future career opportunities. Research and Analysis introduces you to various sectors within interior architecture and design, while Creative Consolidation focuses on ideation and manifesting 3D spatial solutions. The Collaborative Design module emphasizes teamwork to develop spatial responses to an external brief.The final year aims to consolidate your learning and prepare you for professional work. You will focus on a major project that explores your personal interests, guided by mentors. The Final Major Project consists of several stages, from defining and investigating your project to conceptualizing, developing, and resolving your design. The culmination of this is the Final Major Project: Resolution, a comprehensive piece of interior architecture and design work.
