COURSE CURRICULUM

The Financial Management and Accounting course is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of key accounting principles and practices, preparing students for successful careers in the finance sector. The first year introduces foundational concepts such as double-entry bookkeeping, financial statement preparation, and the application of international accounting standards (IAS and IFRS). Students learn to record financial transactions, draft financial statements for various business structures, and analyze financial data to make informed decisions. Upon completion of Year 1, students earn a Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Financial Management and Accounting.In Year 2, the focus shifts to corporate finance, investment analysis, and risk management. Students explore advanced financial concepts such as working capital management, investment theories, and financial risk models. The curriculum also covers corporate governance, financial regulation, and Islamic finance, allowing students to understand the global financial landscape. Successful completion of Year 2 leads to the award of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Financial Management and Accounting.The final year prepares students for more complex tasks, including compliance and assurance, taxation for business entities, and strategic performance management. Students will critically analyze tax and ethical issues, evaluate strategic operations, and develop skills necessary to assess and improve organizational performance. The culmination of the program is a research project where students apply their knowledge to a current accounting or finance topic. Graduating from the program equips students with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge needed to excel in the financial sector.
