COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) in Acting is a professionally focused degree designed to prepare students for a diverse and evolving performance industry. In the first year, students build the foundation of their craft through intensive work on movement, voice, and acting techniques. They explore the methods of key practitioners like Stanislavski, Meisner, and Uta Hagen, and apply these in live performances, including a fully staged naturalistic play. Successful completion of this year leads to a Higher National Certificate (HNC).In the second year, the course expands to include acting for film, television, and audio, alongside performance facilitation. Students learn to adapt their skills for recorded media and various community-based settings. They work on a range of projects, including a cinema-screened film performance and a live theatre production, building versatility and experience. This stage of the course leads to a Higher National Diploma (HND).The final year focuses on professional readiness. Students form their own theatre company, create and tour original work, and develop practical knowledge in producing, funding, and marketing performances. They also explore newer areas such as motion capture and online content creation. The year includes participation in a full Christmas show run and concludes with a graduate showcase attended by industry professionals. By the end of the course, students are equipped to enter the acting profession with a strong portfolio, industry awareness, and the skills to sustain a freelance career.
