ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Coventry University is a public research university in Coventry, England, with its origins dating back to 1843 when it was founded as the Coventry School of Design. It underwent several transformations, including becoming Lanchester Polytechnic in 1970, Coventry Polytechnic in 1987, and ultimately gaining university status in 1992. The university operates campuses in Coventry, Scarborough, London, and Wrocław, with two main campuses: one in the centre of Coventry and another in Central London focused on business and management courses. Coventry University offers around 300 undergraduate and postgraduate courses across various schools and departments, and has 11 research centres dedicated to a wide range of fields. The history traces back to the Coventry School of Art, which later became the Coventry College of Art and Lanchester College of Technology in 1961. In 1970, Lanchester Polytechnic was formed by merging several institutions. The name was changed to Coventry Polytechnic in 1987, and it became Coventry University in 1992 following the Further and Higher Education Act. The university has expanded its influence, particularly internationally, with the establishment of a London campus in 2010. It is ranked among the top modern universities in the UK, with significant investment in its Coventry campus, including a new science and health building and student accommodation complex.
