COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Structural Engineering offers a comprehensive program that combines core technical knowledge, practical skills, and research expertise to prepare students for a professional career in consulting and design within civil engineering. In the first year, students complete a series of core modules covering steel structures, advanced structural mechanics, dynamics, finite element theory and practice, numerical techniques, and professional engineering studies, providing a strong foundation in both theoretical and applied aspects of structural engineering. Additional modules in structural engineering, energy management, and an engineering case study further develop practical problem-solving abilities and an understanding of real-world engineering challenges. The program culminates in a dissertation, allowing students to apply their learning to an independent research project that demonstrates analytical, technical, and professional competence. Optional modules such as big data and AI in civil engineering, theoretical soil mechanics, and building and infrastructure information modelling provide opportunities to tailor learning to individual interests and emerging industry trends.
