COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Spatial Planning and Development combines theoretical knowledge with practical application to prepare students for professional careers in planning and development. In the first year, students complete core modules that cover essential aspects of the field, including site planning, design, and development, live project work, planning and real estate, critical planning practice and research, and a dissertation. These modules provide a strong foundation in spatial planning principles, strategic analysis, and research methods, enabling students to critically assess and contribute to planning projects and policies. Optional modules allow students to tailor their studies to their interests, with choices including environmental policy and climate change, designing cities, planning for sustainability, urban and regional development in practice, sustainable transport policies, renewable energy development, and digital planning and development. This flexibility encourages students to explore contemporary challenges in planning, develop technical and analytical skills, and consider the ethical, environmental, and social implications of planning decisions.
