COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the MSc in Robotics and Intelligent Systems is designed to provide students with a robust foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of robotics, autonomous systems, and artificial intelligence. Core modules include Robotics Research and Case Study, which develops research skills and the ability to analyse real-world applications, and Mechatronics Design, which provides hands-on experience in creating and testing mechanical and electronic systems. Intelligent Robotics and Practices equips students with advanced knowledge of robotics systems, while Soft Robotics explores flexible and adaptive robotic technologies. The year culminates with the Robotics and Intelligent Systems Dissertation, allowing students to undertake an in-depth research project that integrates knowledge from across their studies. To complement the core modules, a wide range of optional modules is available, enabling students to tailor their learning to individual interests and career goals. These include Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and Image Processing, Control, Big Data and AI in Civil Engineering, Smart Grids and Active Network Devices, and several modules focusing on industrial applications, innovation, and informatics. This combination of core and optional modules ensures students gain both the technical expertise and applied research skills needed to excel in robotics and intelligent systems, preparing them for advanced roles in research, industry, and technology innovation.
