COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Psychology conversion program provides a structured and comprehensive introduction to key areas of psychological science for students without prior experience in the discipline. The curriculum is centred around six core modules that together offer both theoretical knowledge and practical skills essential for a career in psychology. The module on Individual Differences and Biological Underpinnings of Mental Health explores how genetics, neurobiology, and personality factors contribute to mental health and behavioural variation. Research Methods in Clinical Sciences builds a strong foundation in designing, conducting, and analysing psychological research, equipping students with skills crucial for evidence-based practice and academic inquiry.The Fundamentals of Cognitive and Social Psychology Disorders module examines how people think, perceive, and interact socially, alongside an understanding of common psychological disorders. Developmental and Clinical Psychology offers insight into psychological development across the lifespan, with particular attention to clinical issues in children and adults. A key feature of the program is the Placement module, where students engage in a 12-week professional placement within a clinical, research, or applied psychology setting. This hands-on experience enhances their understanding of the practical aspects of psychological work and builds professional competence.The program culminates in a 60-credit Research Project, where students apply their research skills to investigate a specific topic of interest within psychology. This project fosters independent learning, critical thinking, and academic writing, and serves as a platform for developing expertise in a chosen area.
