COURSE CURRICULUM

The core modules for year one of the program provide the essential scientific, clinical, and research foundations needed for advanced implant dentistry. Cellular and Molecular Biology (DET028, 30 credits) introduces students to fundamental biological mechanisms that underpin tissue healing, regeneration, biomaterials interactions, and the cellular basis of disease processes relevant to implant treatment. Concepts in Restorative Dentistry and their Applications to Implant Dentistry (DET046, 40 credits) develops understanding of restorative techniques, prosthetic planning, occlusion, and treatment sequencing, enabling students to integrate implants effectively within comprehensive patient care. Clinical Implantology (DET047, 30 credits) offers practical clinical experience in placing and restoring dental implants, developing decision-making and hands-on skills through supervised patient treatment. Statistical Methodology (MET212, 20 credits) equips students with essential competencies in data analysis, statistical testing, and evidence interpretation to support research and evidence-based practice. The Dissertation in Implantology (DET029, 60 credits) forms a major part of the year, allowing students to design and conduct an original clinical or laboratory-based research project, strengthening academic writing, critical appraisal, and research presentation skills. Collectively, these modules ensure a balanced curriculum that integrates scientific knowledge, clinical expertise, and rigorous research training, preparing graduates for professional advancement and independent implant practice.
