COURSE CURRICULUM

The core modules in the Chemistry for Sustainability MSc provide a strong foundation in practical and theoretical concepts essential for addressing global sustainability challenges. Practical Chemistry for Sustainability and Core Chemistry for Sustainability develop advanced laboratory skills and deepen understanding of key chemical principles applied to sustainable technologies and processes. Colloquium for Sustainability encourages critical discussion of current research and global developments in sustainable chemistry, promoting collaboration and scientific communication. The Research Project is a major component of the program, allowing students to undertake an independent, original research investigation within state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and under the guidance of expert academics. Alongside these core modules, students can choose from a range of optional modules to tailor their learning to specific interests. Options include areas such as Biocatalysis for a Sustainable Future, Metals in Medicine and Bioimaging, Molecules for Health and Life and Modern Materials, which explore specialist applications of chemistry in healthcare, biotechnology and advanced materials. Additional options such as Catalysis and Interfaces for Sustainable Chemistry, Frontiers in Inorganic Chemistry and Sustainable Energy focus on innovative catalytic processes, cutting-edge inorganic chemistry and renewable energy systems. These modules provide the flexibility to build expertise suited to emerging careers in sustainable science and industry.
