COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the MSc Accounting and Finance program, students engage with a combination of core and optional modules designed to build a strong foundation in accounting and finance while developing research and analytical skills. Core modules include Accounting and Finance in Context, Contemporary Issues in Corporate Reporting, Corporate Finance, Advanced Management Accounting, and a substantial Research Dissertation. These modules provide a comprehensive understanding of financial principles, reporting standards, corporate financial decision-making, and management accounting practices, while also offering the opportunity to undertake an independent research project that develops critical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis skills. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests and emerging trends in the field, with choices such as Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Accounting, Global Investment, and Financial Technology and Behaviour. These optional modules provide insights into broader accounting frameworks, international financial markets, and the growing role of technology and behavioural factors in finance. The combination of core and optional modules ensures that graduates gain both the technical expertise and the contextual understanding necessary to navigate complex financial environments, make informed decisions, and contribute effectively to ethical and sustainable business practices in a global context.
