COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Physiotherapy is structured over two years, combining taught modules with a research-focused dissertation to advance clinical expertise and professional practice. In the first year, students complete 60 credits of core modules alongside two optional modules totaling 60 credits, making up the 120-credit taught component. Core modules focus on evidencing learning in specialist professional practice and research methods and data analysis in healthcare, providing students with essential skills to critically evaluate and improve their clinical work. Optional modules allow students to tailor their learning to specific areas of interest, such as sport and exercise participation, musculoskeletal diagnosis and treatment, neurorehabilitation theory, clinical kinesiology and tissue pathology, or cardio-respiratory care. This flexible approach ensures that students can develop specialist knowledge aligned with their career goals and practice requirements. In the second year, students undertake a 60-credit dissertation, choosing between an empirical research project, a work-based project, or a systematic review of the literature. This research component enables students to apply their learning to real-world clinical challenges, contribute to evidence-based practice, and develop advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. The program’s combination of practical, theoretical, and research-focused learning prepares graduates to enhance patient care, lead service improvements, and pursue advanced roles in physiotherapy globally.
