COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the MSc Advanced Healthcare Practice program, students complete four core modules totaling 120 credits, designed to provide a strong foundation in advanced healthcare practice. The core modules include Research Methods and Data Analysis in Healthcare, which equips students with the skills to critically analyse and interpret healthcare data, and Leadership in Health and Social Care, which develops the knowledge and abilities required to lead effectively within complex healthcare environments. Alongside these, students can choose from a wide range of optional modules tailored to individual interests and professional development needs. Options include Empirical Dissertation, Advanced Clinical Practice Portfolio, and work-based or systematic review dissertations, allowing students to apply research skills in practical or scholarly contexts. Other optional modules cover specialist areas such as Neurorehabilitation, Public Health, Health Economics and Policy, Occupational Science and Occupational Therapy, Complex Decision Making, Facilitating Learning and Teaching, Fundamentals of Cancer Care, Clinical Patient Assessment, and Patient Safety and Clinical Risk. These optional modules enable students to deepen their expertise in areas relevant to their clinical practice or career aspirations. In the second year, students complete a 60-credit dissertation, providing an opportunity to undertake independent research and contribute to evidence-based practice. Overall, the program equips students with advanced clinical, leadership, and research skills, preparing them for autonomous practice and professional development in diverse healthcare settings.
