The MA in Political Communication is structured around core and optional modules that provide students with a deep understanding of the complex relationship between media, communication, and politics. The core modules, totaling 170 credits, offer a strong foundation in political communication theory, research methods, and practical application. "Electoral Behaviour, Public Opinion and the Media" (MCT535) explores how the media influences political attitudes and election outcomes. The program culminates in a 60-credit "Project Based Dissertation" (MCT444), where students apply their learning to a major research project, often on a topic of personal or professional interest.Students can tailor their studies through a selection of optional modules. Topics include global communication dynamics in "Politics of Global Communication" (MCT532) and the role of online platforms in "Social Media and Politics" (MCT540). Those interested in media production or advocacy can choose from "Public Relations, Offline and Online" (MCT567), "Citizen Media: Digital Storytelling" (MCT590), or "Short Form Video Production" (MCT610). Other options like "Communicating Causes" (MCT591), "Datafied Society" (MCT593), and "Gender, Sexuality and Digital Culture" (MCT611) allow for critical engagement with contemporary digital and social issues. "In the Editor’s Chair" (MCT588) offers practical editorial experience.
