COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA in Forensic Linguistics is designed to provide students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the analysis of language within legal contexts. The core modules focus on building a strong foundation in forensic linguistics through Forensic Linguistics I and II, Research Foundations in Language and Linguistics, and a Dissertation, allowing students to apply their learning in a research-led project. These modules equip students with the ability to critically evaluate expert testimony, analyse linguistic evidence, and understand the role of language in criminal investigations and courtroom settings. Optional modules offer opportunities to deepen knowledge in specialised areas such as discourse and social interaction, current issues in sociolinguistics, phonetics and phonology, research experience in forensic linguistics, corpus linguistics, and research methods in language and linguistics. This flexibility allows students to tailor their studies to their individual interests and career goals.
