COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA Broadcast Journalism program at Cardiff University provides a comprehensive, practice-focused curriculum designed to prepare students for careers in TV, radio, digital, and social media journalism. In the first year, students complete core modules totaling 180 credits, which cover essential aspects of journalism including public administration, media law and ethics, broadcast journalism, and news production. Modules such as Broadcast News Reporting and Production and Reporters and the Reported develop practical skills in researching, producing, and delivering news across multiple platforms, while the Major Project allows students to apply their learning in a substantial, independent project. Data Journalism equips students with the ability to interpret and present complex information, and Professional Development ensures they are prepared for real-world media environments. The program also offers optional modules allowing students to specialise in areas of personal interest, including lifestyle and consumer journalism, political reporting, sports journalism, investigative journalism, and environmental and scientific journalism.
