COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the LLM in Law provides students with a flexible and comprehensive curriculum that combines a major research component with a wide range of optional modules. The core of the program is the Dissertation (CLT600, 60 credits), which allows students to undertake independent research on a chosen legal topic, applying advanced analytical, research, and critical thinking skills. Alongside this, students can choose from numerous 30-credit optional modules to tailor their studies according to their professional interests and career aspirations. These options cover diverse areas of law, including commercial and financial law, with modules such as Insurance Law, International Sales Law, Comparative Commercial Law, Money Laundering and Financial Crime, Admiralty Law, Carriage of Goods by Sea, International Investment Law, and International Energy Law. Governance, human rights, and policy-focused modules include Comparative Corporate Governance, Constitutionalism and Governance, Human Rights and Global Justice, European Law and Governance, and Contemporary Global and Regional Challenges in the Enforcement of Human Rights Law. Intellectual property law is represented through Copyright and Trade Marks: Comparative and International Perspectives. Additional modules explore World Trade Law, International Criminal Law, Medicine, Law and Society, Environmental and Climate Change Law, and Commercial Arbitration. This flexible structure allows students to gain expertise across a wide legal spectrum while developing the skills necessary for research, practice, or further study.
