COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the LLM International Commercial Law program centres on a 60-credit Dissertation (CLT600), which allows students to undertake an in-depth research project on a chosen topic related to international or commercial law. Alongside this core component, students can select from an extensive list of 30-credit optional modules covering diverse areas of commercial, international, corporate, maritime, energy, human rights, and financial regulation. Commercial and trade-focused options include Insurance Law, International Sales Law, Comparative Commercial Law, Admiralty Law, Carriage of Goods by Sea, Money Laundering and Financial Crime, and International Investment Law, offering specialist insight into global commercial transactions and risk management. Governance and regulatory modules include Comparative Corporate Governance, The Law of Devolution in Wales, Constitutionalism and Governance, and European Law and Governance, while World Trade Law and International Energy Law explore international economic frameworks. Dispute resolution and arbitration skills are supported through Commercial Arbitration. Students interested in human rights and ethics may select Human Rights and Global Justice, Medicine, Law and Society, International Criminal Law, or Contemporary Global and Regional Challenges in Enforcement of Human Rights Law. Intellectual property-related modules such as Copyright and Trade Marks provide a sector-specific legal perspective. This structure enables students to tailor their studies to their professional goals.
