COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM Bar Training Course equips students with the comprehensive legal knowledge and practical skills required to practice as a barrister in England and Wales. The program’s core modules cover essential areas of legal practice, including civil litigation, criminal litigation, evidence and sentencing, conference skills, opinion writing, legal drafting, trial advocacy, submission advocacy, professional ethics, and legal research. These modules are designed to develop both theoretical understanding and practical expertise, ensuring students can competently handle a range of legal issues and courtroom procedures. The advocacy modules, including trial and submission advocacy, are delivered in small groups, allowing students to gain hands-on experience and personalized feedback, essential for professional development. In addition to core learning, students may choose optional modules to tailor their studies to specific interests and career aspirations. Options include criminal, civil, and family advocacy, alternative dispute resolution, and reflective and research-based projects, which provide opportunities to deepen practical skills, analytical abilities, and ethical understanding.
