COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law (LLB) program offers a comprehensive exploration of law and its impact on society, covering both foundational legal principles and contemporary issues. It examines the law in a social, economic, and political context, addressing topics such as human rights, political protests, sustainable development, AI regulation, financial crime, family law, housing, and debt. The program develops both academic and professional skills, providing opportunities for practical experience through pro bono work, placements, and paralegal roles, where students gain expertise in client care, legal research, writing, advocacy, and communication. The curriculum also covers core subjects required by the Bar Standards Board, ensuring preparation for careers as barristers or solicitors, while optional modules allow exploration of specialist areas or diverse legal interests. Over three years, students study six 20-credit modules per year, combining core and optional courses. Year one focuses on foundational law modules such as tort, criminal, and public law, alongside broader contextual studies. Year two builds on this with land law, contract law, European Union law, and modules addressing legal, social, and political change, with opportunities for practical skills development. Year three offers further specialization through options such as equity, trusts, human rights, environmental law, AI and law, international law, and the opportunity to complete a dissertation or engage in credit-bearing pro bono projects.
