COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc Chemistry program provides a comprehensive and flexible approach to studying chemistry over three years, combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience. In the first year, students build a solid foundation in physical, inorganic, and organic chemistry, supported by practical laboratory sessions and mathematical workshops. Core modules are complemented by optional modules, allowing students to explore areas such as environmental chemistry, drug development, or green and sustainable chemistry, and there are opportunities to study modern languages through the Languages for All program. In the second year, the curriculum becomes more advanced, with compulsory modules in spectroscopy, inorganic, organic, and physical chemistry, alongside practical work and a key skills module to develop wider professional competencies. Students also explore the chemistry of life and applications of molecular spectroscopy, consolidating their understanding and preparing for research-focused work. The third year emphasizes independent research and advanced practical skills, with a substantial project in the spring semester. Core modules cover organometallic and coordination chemistry, quantum and statistical mechanics, strategies in organic and biological chemistry, and research methods. A wide range of optional modules allows students to pursue personal interests in areas such as advanced spectroscopy, catalysis, structure and mechanism in organic chemistry, or engineering biosynthesis. This structure equips graduates with the knowledge, practical skills, and analytical abilities required for careers in chemical and pharmaceutical industries, research, or further postgraduate study.
