COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Architecture BSc, students are introduced to the design studio environment, where collaborative learning, experimentation and reflective practice are prioritised. They work in groups, undertake basic research and develop ethical awareness while gaining fundamental skills in design, architectural technology and architectural history, all culminating in a spring semester portfolio. A study visit supports learning through real-world architectural engagement. In the second year, students build on these foundations by applying skills to more complex projects within an integrated studio, addressing diverse spatial, environmental and community needs. Design work expands in scale and socio-economic focus, supported by increased research, analysis and computational modelling skills. A themed study trip aligned with studio work enhances context-based learning. In the third year, students choose a thematic studio that allows them to specialise in a subject area and integrate design with history, theory and technology. They strengthen environmental modelling, theoretical understanding and presentation techniques, and continue developing a personal ethical and professional profile through a practice portfolio. A final study visit supports studio themes, and the year prepares students for professional placement or postgraduate study.
