COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering BEng program is structured to provide a strong foundation in both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. In the first year, students engage in lectures supported by laboratory sessions, covering essential topics such as engineering mathematics, fundamentals of mechanical engineering, and applied design and practice. This combination of theory and hands-on experience establishes the groundwork for more advanced studies. In the second year, the focus expands to include mechanical engineering labs, systems and control, thermofluids, solid mechanics and dynamics, engineering analysis and computing, and design. These modules further develop technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and practical skills while preparing students for complex engineering challenges. In the final year, students undertake a major individual project, working closely with academic supervisors, which accounts for a significant portion of the year. Core modules in industrial project management and product design complement the project work, while a range of optional modules allows students to specialize in areas such as materials and manufacturing systems, energy studies, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, engineering optimization, robotics, and mechanical power transmission. The program emphasizes practical application, teamwork, and professional development, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to enter the engineering industry with the knowledge, skills, and experience needed to tackle real-world mechanical engineering problems effectively.
