COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Relations degree is structured to build knowledge progressively across three years. In year one, students take three core modules in international relations, political theory and comparative government, alongside three additional modules that strengthen academic skills such as research, critical analysis and independent learning. Core modules include Introduction to Political Thought, Comparative Government and Politics, Histories and Texts in International Relations, and International Relations Theories, providing a strong foundation for understanding global political systems and key debates. In year two, students complete a core module on international relations theories and choose from a wide range of optional modules that explore specialised topics within international relations and politics, allowing them to shape their studies according to their interests. The third year focuses on advanced independent research, with students completing a 40-credit capstone project, which can take the form of a dissertation, a problem-based grand challenge or a practical simulation project such as participating in Model United Nations. Alongside this, students select four optional modules to deepen their expertise or broaden their academic profile. The program’s structure supports intellectual growth, independent thinking and professional skill development relevant to careers in global affairs.
