COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Food Science and Technology program includes a range of core modules designed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills for the global food industry. The Global Food Safety module prepares students to meet industry demands by developing an understanding of how food safety is managed worldwide, while the Global Food Quality Management Systems module focuses on the principles of quality management and the role of third-party certification schemes in ensuring compliance. The Global Food Product Conformity module addresses national and international food policies, enabling students to evaluate frameworks, inform policy, and ensure product compliance with a strong emphasis on sustainability. Applied Research Methods and Design enhances students’ research capabilities, teaching them to apply evidence-based practice and design robust research projects. The Project and Career Planning module supports the development of an advanced specialist project, helping students assess their own knowledge, skills, and ambitions while preparing a personal career development plan. Finally, the Project module allows students to work independently to investigate a specific area within food science and technology, fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and professional awareness. Collectively, these modules provide a balanced combination of theoretical understanding, practical application, research competence, and career-focused development, preparing graduates for successful and impactful roles in the dynamic global food industry.
