COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Electrical and Electronic Engineering program requires students to complete a total of 180 credits through a combination of compulsory and optional modules, with PgC and PgD exit awards available at 60 and 120 credits respectively. Core learning focuses on essential areas shaping modern engineering practice, including the Internet of Things, RF and microwave engineering, renewable energy systems, sensors and actuators, smart grids, and research and professional practice. These modules equip students with advanced theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience in designing secure IoT networks, developing high-frequency communication systems, integrating sustainable energy solutions, and building intelligent control systems for industrial and robotic applications. Students also gain expertise in modern power distribution and smart grid optimisation, as well as valuable research, project management and professional skills that support their independent Technology Dissertation. Optional modules allow students to specialise further in areas such as optical communication systems, emerging digital technologies, or advanced signal processing, providing opportunities to explore cutting-edge solutions in high-speed communications, digital transformation and artificial intelligence applications. The program blends technical development, innovation and practical application, preparing graduates for careers across telecommunications, automation, renewable energy, electronics design, research and technology-driven industries worldwide.
