COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Biomedical Science program incorporates a range of modules designed to develop advanced knowledge, practical skills, and critical understanding across the biomedical sciences. Research Strategies and Innovation in Biomedical Sciences equips students with project management skills relevant to the biotech sector and the ability to analyse and present biological data using statistical software. Analytical and Diagnostic Techniques develops detailed knowledge of contemporary analytical methods and diagnostic systems, enabling students to critically evaluate their applications, benefits, and limitations. The Molecular and Cellular Basis of Health and Disease provides a contemporary understanding of cell and molecular biology in health and disease, while Immunology of Human Diseases explores the immune system, its control mechanisms, and its role in research and diagnostic or therapeutic development. Recent Advances in Biomedical Science encourages a holistic and evaluative approach to multidisciplinary research on physiologically and pathologically important conditions. Specialism modules allow students to critically review current advances within their chosen field, and Project and Career Planning supports the design of a specialist project while developing a personal career strategy. The Project module enables independent investigation and practical application, allowing students to undertake empirical research, enterprise, innovation, or product design projects. Collectively, these modules prepare graduates to contribute to biomedical research, professional practice, and innovation with advanced analytical, technical, and professional expertise.
