COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Banking and Finance program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of banking, finance, and related disciplines through a combination of taught modules and a dissertation. The taught element, worth 140 credits, is delivered over two semesters and comprises compulsory and optional modules, each valued at 20 credits. Compulsory modules cover essential areas such as Principles of Banking, Contemporary Issues in Accounting, Banking, Economics and Finance, FinTech and Digital Transformation in Banking, Research Methods, and Wealth Management, ensuring students develop a solid foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of the sector. In addition to the compulsory modules, students choose two optional modules that allow them to tailor their learning to their interests and career goals. Optional modules cover specialized topics including Capital Markets and Derivatives, Corporate Finance, Finance of International Business, Islamic Investment Banking, Principles of Islamic Finance, Management of Finance, Development of Professional Skills and Employability, Quantitative Finance, and Econometrics and Data Analysis. The program culminates with a compulsory dissertation worth 40 credits, which provides an opportunity for independent research and the application of knowledge gained throughout the taught modules. Successful completion of the full 180 credits awards the MSc, equipping graduates with the skills, analytical expertise, and professional competencies necessary to pursue careers in corporate finance, investment, and global banking.
