COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Advanced Computer Science is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of cutting-edge computing technologies and the skills necessary to apply them in real-world contexts. The program is built around a series of compulsory modules that cover both theoretical and practical aspects of advanced computing. Students begin by developing analytical and problem-solving skills through Algorithm Design and Analysis, while Cloud and Edge Computing focuses on managing and processing data generated by IoT devices. Wireless Networks explores communication technologies, adaptive protocols, and error control, while Advanced Programming deepens proficiency in object-oriented programming and advanced software development techniques. Information Security introduces students to principles and practices for securing computer systems, emphasizing both theoretical and practical management considerations. Research and Professional Practice equips students with the necessary skills to plan and execute a dissertation with a research or technical focus. Emerging Mobile Applications teaches the design and development of applications using the latest technologies. The program culminates in the Technology Dissertation, a substantial project where students apply their knowledge and skills to address real-world problems or develop innovative computing solutions. The degree requires completion of 180 credits, with the option to exit earlier with a PgC or PgD qualification after completing 60 or 120 credits, respectively, providing flexibility for different academic and career pathways.
