COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Fine Art (MFA) program is structured around a student-driven project, supported by a Personal Tutor and a subject-specialist staff member forming a Supervisory Team. The course emphasizes independent and reflective learning, with skilled practitioners guiding students through a variety of teaching methods aimed at developing professional and creative skills. In Semester 1, students undertake two integrated modules, Position and Methodologies Part 1, designed to help them situate their ideas within a critical framework, address contemporary Fine Art issues, and develop a research and enterprise proposal. Semester 2 builds on this foundation with the Idea and Contexts modules, encouraging students to contextualize and implement their proposals while considering global, ethical, social, and political concerns. These modules support the development of advanced scholarship and creative problem-solving. In Semester 3, students complete the Output module, which integrates practical and written components equivalent to 60 credits. This final module consolidates research findings into a major project, culminating in a curated exhibition and a written paper or article that showcases each student’s individual creative vision. The program offers clear exit points, awarding a Postgraduate Certificate upon completion of 60 credits, a Postgraduate Diploma after 120 credits, and the full Master’s degree on successful completion of 180 credits, ensuring flexibility and recognition of progressive achievement.
