COURSE CURRICULUM

The MA English Literature and Creative Writing at Cardiff Metropolitan University offers a diverse and engaging curriculum structured around core and elective modules, designed to be completed in one year full-time or two years part-time. The program totals 180 credits, including two core modules—Research Methods and Literary and Critical Theory—and a 60-credit dissertation that can focus on either English Literature or Creative Writing. Creative Writing modules complement this by focusing on narrative construction in “The Plot Thickens”, the relationship between place and writing in “Writing Place”, and the potential for writing to enact personal and societal change in “Writing (R)evolution”. “Paths to Professional Writing” connects students with the publishing world, offering real-world insights and networking opportunities. The core module in Literary and Critical Theory introduces major critical frameworks like structuralism, feminism, and postcolonialism, while Research Methods develops students' research design and methodology skills.
