COURSE CURRICULUM

Cardiff Metropolitan University offers four distinct MA Education pathways tailored to varying professional contexts. The full-time MA Education is designed for students without substantial professional experience in education. It focuses on academic development, including 40 credits of core modules, a 60-credit dissertation, and four optional modules, covering topics such as adolescent development, youth culture, inclusion, and digital environments. In contrast, the MA Education Policy and Practice is aimed at professionals in education roles and emphasizes reflective practice through the core Practitioner Research module. Students choose five optional modules and complete a dissertation based on their own professional settings. The MA Education Additional Learning Needs targets those working directly with additional learning needs, requiring relevant work experience or roles. It includes specialist modules in autism, specific learning difficulties, and inclusion, along with Practitioner Research and a dissertation focused on this field. Lastly, the MA Leadership in Education supports current or aspiring leaders, emphasizing interprofessional learning. Core modules include Practitioner Research and Leading and Managing Professional Practice, with additional options in mentoring, curriculum development, and multi-agency work. All programs culminate in a 60-credit dissertation aligned with students’ professional interests and goals, offering flexible, practice-informed postgraduate education designed to enhance educational impact.
