COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sport Media degree at Cardiff Met equips students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to succeed in the fast-paced sports media industry. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation in creative, technical, and academic skills through modules covering audio and video production, sport marketing, journalism, and content creation for social platforms. Emphasis is placed on ethical thinking, reflective practice, and industry-relevant competencies to prepare students for professional work. In the second year, students build on this foundation through applied, hands-on experiences across a broad range of sport media contexts, engaging in project-based learning, live projects, applied marketing communication, and ethics. Optional modules allow for academic flexibility, enabling students to explore interests outside their core field and bring fresh perspectives into their work. The final year consolidates learning through substantial, 40-credit capstone projects, including the Media Portfolio and Final Project, which require independent research, creative excellence, and professional-level output. A further module in strategic brand management complements this work, and optional modules provide additional specialization opportunities. Across all three years, students develop practical and analytical skills, creative expertise, and professional awareness, ensuring they graduate as confident, versatile, and industry-ready professionals capable of making meaningful contributions to the dynamic world of sport media.
