COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sport Management degree at Cardiff Met is structured to develop students into skilled and knowledgeable professionals capable of managing and leading in the global sport industry. In the first year, students complete core modules that provide a foundation in sport business management, marketing, operations, and an introduction to the global sport industry, alongside a 40-credit module in Professional and Academic Development. These modules focus on understanding the evolution, political and socio-economic characteristics of the sector, and applying core theories to real-world scenarios. The second year builds on this foundation, deepening knowledge in marketing, operations, leadership, people management, and sports events management. Students engage in project-based learning, completing a 40-credit group project underpinned by research, and choose an optional module to specialise in areas such as marketing, sport development, business analytics, or undertake a professional placement to gain practical industry experience. In the final year, students focus on strategic and socio-economic aspects of sport management while cultivating independent and reflective learning skills. Compulsory modules include strategic management, economics of sport, an industry placement, and a final project. Optional modules allow further specialisation in governance, brand management, high-performance sport, sport development, or strategic events management. The course equips graduates with the skills, experience, and analytical capability to pursue senior management roles or further study in the evolving sport industry.
