COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Sport Conditioning, Rehabilitation and Massage (SCRAM) degree at Cardiff Met provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach to strength and conditioning, sport rehabilitation, and sports massage. In the first year, students study the foundations of musculoskeletal anatomy, human performance science, movement screening, and training methods, combining practical experiences such as coaching peers and designing training strategies with academic and professional development. The second year focuses on applying knowledge in client-focused contexts, developing skills in injury assessment, manual therapy, programming, and coaching. Students deepen their understanding of pedagogy, clinical reasoning, and applied science through supervised clinics, embedded qualifications, and case-based tasks, strengthening their ability to deliver safe and effective interventions. In the final year, students demonstrate professional competence and autonomy through applied research projects, industry placements, athlete case management, and the final project, working directly with clients and organisations to solve complex problems. Across the degree, practical experiences, work placements, and embedded qualifications support the development of technical expertise, critical thinking, and reflective practice. Graduates of the SCRAM degree emerge as confident, competent, and adaptable practitioners with an interdisciplinary skill set, ready for careers in performance sport, health, rehabilitation, and community settings, or for further postgraduate study.
