COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Environmental Health program is structured across three progressive years that develop academic knowledge, professional skills, and practical experience. In Year One, students gain a foundation in the global context of environmental health and begin exploring key influences on health, including food safety, workplace conditions, housing, and environmental sciences. Academic and professional skills training supports the transition to degree-level study, while modules such as Food Safety Management, Determinants of Health, Workplace Environment, Environmental Health Sciences, Living Environment, and Professional and Interprofessional Development 1 establish core competencies. In Year Two, students apply their learning to real-world situations with a strong focus on public protection, population health, data use, and health promotion. They are introduced to research methods, choose a final project topic, and complete a work placement to build practical experience. Modules include Principles of Public Protection, Professional and Interprofessional Development 2, Research Methods, Assessing and Improving Population Health, and Public Protection in Practice. Year Three consolidates learning through advanced study in health protection, sustainable business management, and the design and evaluation of environmental health interventions. Students complete a major independent research project, supported by modules such as Health Protection Incidents, Applied Management Systems, Intervention for Health and Sustainable Development, and Project.
