COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Economics degree provides a structured three-year program that equips students with a strong foundation in economic theory, quantitative analysis, and practical application. In the first year, students study microeconomics and macroeconomics, gain skills in quantitative data analysis, and explore global financial services, economic ideas through time, and sustainable money management. This year establishes essential analytical and academic skills to support future learning and career development. The second year builds on this foundation with intermediate modules in microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methods, alongside the study of games and information theory. Students also engage in experiential work or volunteering opportunities and can select an optional module such as public finance, accounting for responsible management, or taxation. The program offers the opportunity for a year-long industry placement after the second year, allowing students to gain practical experience and improve employability. In the final year, students consolidate their knowledge by studying applied macroeconomics, econometrics, labour and health economics, behavioural economics, and monetary economics, with the option to explore industrial economics, public policy economics, advanced taxation, or an industrial work experience module. The curriculum emphasizes applying theory to real-world challenges, preparing graduates for careers in economics, finance, policy, research, or further study.
