COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Computing with Creative Design degree at Cardiff Metropolitan University is structured over three years to develop both technical computing skills and creative design expertise. In the first year, students are introduced to design thinking, human-computer interaction, programming principles, web design, databases, and the broader societal impact of technology through the Explore module. These foundations support analytical and creative development while establishing core technical knowledge. The second year builds on this with modules in mobile and web technologies, physical computing, creative design and innovation, and collaborative projects, allowing students to experiment with interdisciplinary approaches and apply their skills to practical, real-world challenges. Optional modules such as multimedia and interaction or digital business offer opportunities to tailor the degree to individual interests. In the final year, students consolidate their learning through a Development Project, advanced web technology, UX and digital content, and professional, sustainable, and ethical technology modules, which provide both technical depth and consideration of broader industry responsibilities. Optional modules, including social humanoid robotics, technology project management, or industrial work experience, allow further specialisation or practical exposure. Across all years, the program emphasizes the integration of computing and creative design, preparing graduates for careers that bridge technical expertise and innovation, including software development, UX/UI design, interactive media, and creative technology roles.
