COURSE CURRICULUM

The Business Information Systems degree progresses over three years, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare students for a dynamic career in technology and business. In the first year, students complete 120 credits of compulsory modules designed to build a solid foundation. These include Fundamentals of Information Systems, Technology and Society, Computational Thinking, Introduction to Data Analytics, and Web Design and Databases. These modules introduce students to the role of technology in society and core concepts of data, systems, and web technologies.In the second year, students undertake 100 credits of core modules that deepen their understanding of systems and digital business operations. Modules include Law and Digital Security, Information Systems Analysis and Design, Digital Business, and a Collaborative Project, which encourages teamwork and practical application of course content. Students also select one 20-credit optional module, choosing between Multimedia and Interaction or Mobile and Web Technologies, allowing them to tailor their learning to areas of personal interest and career goals.The final year sharpens professional and managerial skills. Students complete 100 credits through core modules: Technology Project Management, Professional, Sustainable and Ethical Technology, Business Analytics and Intelligence, and a major Development Project worth 40 credits. They also choose one 20-credit optional module from Industrial Work Experience, Cyber Security and Cryptography, or FinTech, providing further specialisation. The optional modules are subject to availability and student demand. Throughout the course, students are encouraged to think critically, engage with real-world challenges, and adopt professional practices, ensuring they graduate as well-rounded, industry-ready professionals equipped for roles such as IT consultants, business analysts, or information systems specialists. The degree’s blend of technical learning, business context, and ethical considerations ensures a comprehensive educational experience aligned with current and future industry needs.
