COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Banking & Finance degree is structured over three years to provide a thorough grounding in financial services, economics, and accounting, combined with practical skills and industry experience. In the first year, students complete six compulsory modules covering quantitative methods, global financial services, microeconomics, macroeconomics, financial and digital accounting, and sustainable money management, building a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of banking and finance. The second year advances students’ knowledge with compulsory modules in intermediate quantitative methods, money and markets, accounting for responsible management, principles of banking, and experiential work or volunteering opportunities. Students also choose an optional module in areas such as intermediate macroeconomics, public finance, or taxation, and have the option to undertake a year-long industry placement after the second year, gaining valuable professional experience. The final year focuses on investment management, capital markets and derivatives, contemporary finance, personal financial planning, and financial services regulation, alongside one optional module chosen from macroeconomics, public policy economics, advanced taxation, or industrial work experience if a placement was undertaken. The program integrates academic study with practical application, providing students with analytical, strategic, and professional skills. Graduates are prepared for careers in banking, investment, financial services, risk management, and related sectors, equipped to navigate a dynamic and evolving financial landscape.
