COURSE CURRICULUM

The Robotics Engineering degree offers a structured progression through foundational to advanced topics across three years, equipping students with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required for careers in the robotics and automation industries. In Year 1, students are introduced to core engineering principles, including analog and digital electronics, computer architectures, operating systems, programming, and applied mathematics. A significant emphasis is placed on mechatronics, blending mechanical and electronic systems, and project-based learning is used to apply these concepts to real-world scenarios. In Year 2, the curriculum deepens, focusing on hardware-software integration, control systems, physical computing, and the design and automation of robotic systems. Modules also cover engineering project management and introduce students to social humanoid robotics. Practical work remains a central feature, with opportunities to build electronic systems and apply mathematical models to robotic control. In Year 3, students advance to programming microcontrollers and specialized chips, while exploring smart control, power electronics, and autonomous systems. Optional modules such as artificial intelligence, cyber security, and distributed systems allow for further specialization. A final-year individual project challenges students to design and develop a solution to a real-world robotics problem. Students may also opt for an industrial placement year between the second and third years to gain valuable hands-on experience.
