COURSE CURRICULUM

The BA (Hons) Public Relations and Marketing Management degree at Cardiff Met provides a comprehensive pathway for students to develop expertise in both marketing and public relations. In the first year, students complete six compulsory modules that introduce them to marketing principles, digital media, sustainable money management, people and organisation management, data-driven marketing, and PR theories, forming a strong foundational knowledge. The second year builds on this foundation with five compulsory modules and one optional module, focusing on stakeholder behaviour, integrated marketing communications, corporate branding, marketing research methods, and practical experience through the Public Relations in Practice module. Students have the opportunity to gain real-world experience via industry work placements, including the option of a year-long placement between the second and third years, enhancing employability and professional insight. In the final year, students complete four compulsory modules and one optional module, developing advanced knowledge in international and global marketing, strategic PR management, influencer marketing, and research or project work through a dissertation or marketing plan. Optional modules allow further specialization in areas such as content creation, global sporting events, or industrial work experience. Throughout the degree, emphasis is placed on practical application, critical thinking, and strategic decision-making, ensuring graduates leave as industry-ready professionals with a blend of theoretical understanding, practical skills, and valuable industry contacts.
