COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Global Public Health offers a comprehensive curriculum that integrates theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to address global health challenges. The course includes a series of core modules designed to build a solid foundation in international public health practices. Students begin with Global Health and Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on the international health agenda and the impact of global initiatives on population health. The module on Evidence Based Global Public Health enhances students' ability to critically appraise and apply scientific evidence in real-world public health scenarios. Essentials of Global Epidemiology provides fundamental skills in understanding disease patterns, health statistics, and surveillance systems across diverse populations.Another core element is Health Promotion: Thinking Globally, Acting Locally, where students explore strategies to promote health equity and apply global health principles in local contexts. The Global Public Health Research Project offers students the opportunity to engage in independent, in-depth research, allowing them to apply their academic knowledge to pressing global health issues. Depending on the project’s scope, this module carries either 40 or 60 credits.The course also allows students to tailor their learning through a range of optional modules. These include Environment, Health and Sustainable Development, which explores environmental determinants of health; Global Healthcare Systems: Policy and Practice, which examines how different countries structure and deliver healthcare; Migration, Culture and Health, focusing on health outcomes among migrant and culturally diverse populations; and Work-Based Learning, providing practical experience in a relevant health setting.Together, these modules equip students with critical thinking, analytical, and research capabilities required for careers in public health research, policy, or practice. Graduates will be prepared to influence global health strategies and interventions across government agencies, NGOs, and international health organisations.
