COURSE CURRICULUM

The Law program at Canterbury Christ Church University offers a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum designed to provide students with both foundational legal knowledge and advanced specialisation options. In Year 1, students begin with Student Success Modules that build core academic skills, followed by key legal subjects such as Contract Law, Criminal Law, English Legal System, and Law in Society and Obligations. These modules introduce critical thinking, legal reasoning, and analytical skills while covering essential legal doctrines and the societal impact of law. In Year 2, the focus shifts to more complex areas including Land Law, Public Law, and Torts Law, giving students a deeper understanding of property ownership, constitutional principles, and civil liabilities. Optional modules allow further exploration of topics like Dispute Resolution, International Law and Human Rights, Law of Vulnerable Groups, and Mooting and Opinion Writing, blending theory with practical application. Year 3 builds on prior learning through core modules in Equity and Trusts and European Union Law, examining both historical doctrines and modern legal developments including Brexit. A wide range of optional modules allows students to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. These include Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Employment Law, Family Law, ICT Law, Intellectual Property Law, Medical Law, and the opportunity to complete an independent dissertation.
