COURSE CURRICULUM

The Public Health degree program is structured across three years, providing a comprehensive and interdisciplinary foundation in the field. In Year 1, students focus on building essential academic and practical skills. Modules include Introducing Academic Skills for Health, Sociology of Health and Wellbeing, Contemporary Health and Lifestyle Issues, and Collaborative Working in Health. These are supported by studies in Communication and Digital Health and Environment and Green Health, highlighting the influence of digitalisation and environmental factors on public health.In Year 2, the curriculum deepens with modules on Promoting Health, Health Inequalities Across the Life Course, and Evidence-based Research in Health and Wellbeing. Developing Collaborative Practice and Health Protection further enhance students’ applied understanding. Optional modules such as Health Behaviour Science and Health Leadership and Sustainability allow students to tailor their studies based on career interests, focusing on behavioural insights and sustainable leadership in healthcare settings.Year 3 brings together all previous learning through a 40-credit Dissertation module, encouraging independent research. Students also study Policies and Strategies for Public Health, Health and Lifestyle Epidemiology, and Global and Public Health. Optional modules such as Global and Planetary Health, Society, Culture and Contemporary Lifestyles, Physical Activity, Health & Lifestyle, and Public Health Nutrition enable students to specialize in current and emerging areas within the discipline. Overall, the course offers a broad, applied, and forward-looking education in public health, preparing graduates for a range of careers within the sector.
