COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Geography degree at Canterbury Christ Church University provides a structured program that combines theoretical understanding with practical skills to explore the Earth’s physical and human landscapes. In Year 1, students build foundational knowledge through modules such as Introduction to Natural and Applied Sciences, Evolution and Diversity, Human and Physical Environments, and Scientific Discovery and Statistics, while developing essential academic and professional skills through Student Success Modules. Year 2 deepens expertise with more focused topics, including Soil Science, Global Systems and Climate Change, Society, Space and Place, and Field Skills in Geography, alongside interdisciplinary modules and Industry, Careers and Enterprise, providing opportunities for practical application, fieldwork, and preparation for professional environments. In Year 3, students integrate and apply their learning through modules such as Environmental Consultancy, Spatial Thinking in Practice, Planning Sustainable Places, and a Research Project in Natural Sciences, allowing them to undertake independent research, analyse complex spatial and environmental issues, and propose sustainable solutions. Throughout the course, students gain hands-on experience, develop analytical and problem-solving skills, and engage with contemporary global challenges such as climate change, urbanisation, and sustainability.
