COURSE CURRICULUM

The BSc (Hons) Finance and Investment degree is structured over three years to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of finance, investment, and related business disciplines, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. In Year 1, students build a solid foundation through modules such as Applied Business Statistics, Introduction to Financial Accounting, Economics and Finance Fundamentals, Introduction to Management Accounting, and Student Success modules. These modules introduce essential concepts in accounting, economics, finance, and data analysis while developing academic and professional skills. Year 2 focuses on applied finance and industry engagement through modules including Asset Pricing and Alternative Investment, Managerial Finance, Introduction to FinTech, Interdisciplinary modules, and Industry, Careers and Enterprise. Students gain hands-on experience in investment analysis, financial decision-making, and emerging technologies in finance, while exploring interdisciplinary perspectives and professional practices. In Year 3, students advance their expertise with modules such as Corporate Financial Management, Portfolio and Risk Management, International Finance, and the Accounting, Economics and Finance Project. This final year emphasises strategic financial planning, risk assessment, global market understanding, and independent research, allowing students to integrate theory with real-world problem solving. Graduates are equipped for careers in investment management, financial analysis, banking, corporate finance, FinTech, consultancy, or further postgraduate study, leaving the program with strong analytical, decision-making, and professional skills suited to a competitive and dynamic financial sector.
